The Phoenix Temple will host a Southwest Regional Retreat on the weekend of April 5 at the Redemptorist Renewal Center at Picture Rocks in Tucson.

The retreat will focus on the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda; with extended periods of silence, group energization, meditation, classes, and satsanga. It is open to all Self-Realization Fellowship lesson students and Kriyabans.

The Redemptorist Renewal Center is located high in the Sonoran Desert foothills northwest of Tucson. RRC will provide comfortable guest rooms, vegetarian meals, views of the Sonoran Desert, and is the site of ancient Hohokam petroglyphs.

Registration begins March 1st and will continue until all space is filled (usually about three weeks). A flyer containing registration information and a registration form can be printed from the link on this page. The flyer can also be found in the free literature displays at the Phoenix Temple. Before and after the Sunday Services in March you will find a table set up on the patio where a volunteer can answer questions and register you. Registration forms can also be mailed in. Payment may be made by check or cash.

We suggest that you get your registration in as soon as possible as space at the retreat fills up quickly, especially the single rooms.


Schedule and Registration Information

Our meditation practice is characterized by a short period of devotional singing, followed by the deep silence of intense concentration as taught by Paramahansa Yogananda. The silence period is used to practice the techniques of concentration and for practice of the Kriya Yoga technique.

To gain the most benefits from meditation, we encourage you to subscribe to the SRF lessons to learn the techniques of meditation. You may also call the resident ministers to find out more about the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda.

The main Inspirational Service starts promptly at 10:00 and lasts until 11:00 am. At the same time, Sunday School is offered for children in the Fellowship Hall. Anyone interested is welcome to attend the meditation and lecture services.

Our monthly Adults 40+ spiritual introspection and discussion group will be on Sunday, April 7 at 11:15 am in the Fellowship Hall. All adults (ages 40+) are invited to join in this hour of fellowship and discussion.

There will be a healing service on Sunday, April 7 at 11:20 am in the Temple. The service will last approximately 20 minutes and will include meditation and prayer for those in need of healing. Everyone is welcome.

20 minutes before each Friday and Sunday evening meditation period, we practice the Energization Exercises on the temple patio. Please arrive early to join us.

The Sunday evening meditation lasts from 6:00 - 9:00 pm, with periods of chanting on the hour. Each period of chanting lasts for about 10 minutes. The Energization Exercises will be held on the temple patio beginning at 5:40 pm. Please enter or leave the meditation during the periods of chanting so as not to disturb others.
