Phoenix Temple 50th Anniversary - November 4, 2023
This year marks 50 years since the Phoenix Temple was established on Central Avenue.
We celebrated the anniversary on Saturday, Nov 4 with guest ministers Brothers Balananda
and Padmananda along with the Phoenix temple ministers.
Remembering the early days of the present day Phoenix Temple building, with
memories shared by devotees that attended the temple in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
We

around the United States to celibate this milestone.
Easter Breakfast 2023
Easter was celebrated at the Phoenix Temple with a special Easter breakfast which was lovingly
prepared by our many volunteers. Many people came, and it was a great time to meet and socialize
with devotees and friends. The Sunday School children enjoyed an Easter Egg Hunt around the grounds.

Paramahansa Yogananda's Birthday 2022
Following the special ceremony commemorating the birth of Paramahansa Yogananda, we had a special
birthday social, hosted by the Phoenix Temple Young Adults Group. Thanks to all who volunteered
and made this occasion a success!
Paramahansa Yogananda's Birthday 2020
We celebrated the 127th birthday of Paramahansa Yogananda on Sunday, January 5. After the ceremony, we shared in
birthday cake and fellowship.
Honoring the Gurus
This musical slideshow video show images from our first special event in our new Fellowship Hall and Patio. We
had the VP of SRF Brother Achalananda along with other monks who were Phoenix ministers. We enjoyed fellowship
and a delicious Indian meal before going into the temple. There we watched a skit from the teen group followed
by inspirations from all of the monks and Brother Achalananda.
Dedication Ceremony for our new Fellowship Hall
Dedication Ceremony for our new Fellowship Hall on September 10, 2017. The ceremony shows Brother Balananda
from the Phoenix Temple and Brother Vishwananda visiting from the Mother Center and representing the Board of
Directors. We had kirtan chanting from our group and Brother Vishwananda blew the conch shell during the
ribbon cutting. The ceremony was followed by the prayer for food which was a lunch prepared in our new hall. A
very special cake with the image of our hall was cut by the monks.
Drone's Eye View of the New Fellowship Hall
This is a wonderful view of the concrete installation on the second floor of the expansion project building by
view of a drone piloted by Mike Jackson. You can see how Guruji's project is coming along with a vista view
that puts everything into perspective.
Placement of Prayer Cards
On March 6, 2017. Prayer cards, which had been collected from the congregation, were placed under the
foundation of the new Fellowship Hall. Shortly afterwards, concrete was poured for the foundation, sealing the
prayers in place as a permanent blessing for our hall.
SRF Phoenix Blessing Ceremony
This was our blessing and groundbreaking ceremony for our new fellowship hall held Sunday January 8, 2017.
Sunday school children held their class outside and were joined by our ministers and the entire congregation
after a shortened lecture service. The ceremony started with a prayer and Aarati ceremony with kirtan
chanting. That was followed by the groundbreaking. Everyone then took up positions around the border of our
new building and raised up a long ribbon while chanting OM. That was followed by everyone receiving prasad
and a small card to place their own prayers onto that will later become part of the foundation of our new
hall.
Christmas Celebration 2016
We had a wonderful Christmas Commemoration service last month with the Sunday School children followed by the
children singing in the temple. Our temple Christmas Social continued with several talented members playing
Christmas songs and then we sang carols together. The monks were given gifts and we were served a lovely
vegetarian lunch afterwards outside in our patio area.
Diwali Celebration 2016
The Phoenix Temple Sunday School held our first Diwali Celebration today after the main service with the
children, members, and monastics at our annex building. We had food and fellowship followed by an Arti
Ceremony by Brother Balananda, chanting and a short meditation. We hope you'll enjoy this video of the event.
Temple Outing 2016 - Tonto Natural Bridge State Park
We had the company of two monastics; Brothers Balananda and Jayananda. We enjoyed the peace and beauty of
nature, fellowship, hikes, food, stories from the monks, and meditation mixed with chants accompanied by
guitar.
Easter 2016 - SRF Phoenix Temple Easter Sunday School Easter service and Easter Egg
Hunt.
This was the special service for children which followed the Easter sunrise service and breakfast Easter
morning. The children also had an Easter egg hunt and filed into the main lecture service to sing a short song
one of the children had written.
Christmas 2015
Thanks to all who joined us for our annual Christmas celebration, held on December 20th, after the Sunday
service. Entertainment included a wonderful music program showcasing the talents of our temple singers. A good
time was had by all.
Halloween 2015
The Phoenix Temple teen group hosted a special Halloween event on the evening of October 24, which included a
potluck dinner, a magic show, a haunted house, a puppet show, music and entertainment, a visit to the astral
world, a special visit by the fairy queen and much more. A wonderful time was had by all.
Easter 2015
The Phoenix Temple celebrated Easter Sunday on April 5, starting with a Sunrise Service at 7:00 am in the
Temple, followed by a delicious breakfast at 8:00 am. The Sunday School had a devotional service for the
children at 10:00 am, including an Easter egg hunt. Kids, Volunteers and member enjoyed fellowship on a
beautiful Spring day in Phoenix.
India Night 2014
The Phoenix Temple held its Bi-Annual India Night celebration this year on October 18. The celebration started
with a traditional Aarti ceremony hosted by the resident SRF monastics. The teen group put on an entertaining
play with a focus on the upcoming Phoenix Temple expansion project. Two sisters were visiting from Mother
Center and they helped us celebrate the 100th birthday of our former Sangha Mata, Daya Mata, who passed in
2010. The kirtan group played for the opening Aarti ceremony and at the end with a rousing kirtan with the
attending audience joining in. A delicious catered Indian meal was served. It was a beautiful evening!
Easter 2014
Easter at the Temple was a great time for celebrating the life and teachings of Jesus and to honor his life
and mission. For the children, a special outdoor service was held along with an Easter egg hunt. For the
adults, we had a beautiful and inspirational message, along with a delicious Easter breakfast. Thanks to all
who helped in making this Easter a great success!
